The cable stayed bridge and viaducts across the Tagus estuary at Lisbon, opened in 1998 for Expo 98 and the 500th anniversary of the voyage of Vasco da Gama to India. It eased pressure on the 25 de Abril Bridge and was built to resist strong earthquakes.
