Overview
The Tokyo to Nagoya expressway, fully opened in 1969, which together with the Meishin formed the first long distance motorway spine of Japan. It runs past the foot of Mount Fuji and remains one of the busiest intercity routes in the country, paralleled since the 2010s by the Shin-Tomei.
