Overview
The first planned scenic highway in the United States, built between 1913 and 1922 through the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. Engineer Samuel Lancaster laid it out to frame waterfalls such as Multnomah Falls, with stone walls and arched bridges. It is a National Historic Landmark.
