Overview
The bridge and tunnel system joining the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen across the Great Belt. Rail traffic began in 1997 and road traffic in 1998 over the East Bridge, whose 1,624 m main span made it one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, ending centuries of ferry crossings.
